Choosing Emergency Care Vs. Urgent Care

Sometimes it can be hard to tell if you need to go to the emergency room or go to an urgent care area. While walk in clinic or urgent care locations are excellent for treating everyday maladies and injuries, the nearest emergency room can treat everything from severe fever to allergic reactions. Emergency rooms are also open 24/7; giving patients the convenient access to high quality care.

For medical emergencies ALWAYS call 9-1-1.

When to go to a walk in clinic

Here are some common conditions that should be treated at a walk-in clinic or urgent care facility

  • Scrapes or minor cuts
  • Allergies
  • Flu symptoms
  • Sore throat
  • Sprains
  • Migraines

When to go to the ER

  • Concussions or head trauma
  • Allergic reaction
  • Chest pain
  • Shortness of breath
  • Bone fractures
  • Open wound
  • Behavioral health issues

If you or a loved one is experiencing one of the above symptoms or is suffering from a life-threatening condition, don’t hesitate. Go to your nearest emergency room so board-certified doctors can take care of your medical needs.
