Cutting edge detection for neuroendocrine cancer will be happening right here in Denver. Dr. Eric Liu, co-director of the Neuroendocrine Institute at Rocky Mountain Cancer Centers and a practicing physician at @P/SL, is using an offshoot therapy of the detection test known as Gallium 68 DOTATATE. The procedure, which takes less than an hour, is able to pick up 50 percent more tumors, lead to dramatic improvement in 30 percent of cases and gives off 500 percent less radiation than previous treatments. Only a handful of surgeons in the country are experts in neuroendocrine cancer, a disease that attacks small cells that use hormones to control body functions, and Dr. Liu is one of them. We are very excited to have Dr. Liu with us!
