Presbyterian/St. Luke’s (P/SL) and Rocky Mountain Hospital for Children (RMHC) have earned our sixth consecutive "A" grade from The Leapfrog Group for Spring 2018. An announcement released nationally by the independent hospital watchdog shows key shifts among many hospitals on the A, B, C, D and F grading system based on errors, injuries, accidents, and infections.
P/SL and RMHC’s "A" grade in this elite national ratings program recognizes your strong commitment to patient safety. Assigned to more than 2,500 hospitals across the nation twice annually, the Hospital Safety Score is the gold standard rating for patient safety, compiled under the guidance of the nation’s leading patient safety experts and administered by The Leapfrog Group, a national, independent nonprofit. The first and only hospital safety rating to be peer-reviewed in the Journal of Patient Safety, the Hospital Safety Score is free to the public and designed to give consumers information they can use to protect themselves and their families when facing a hospital stay.
“Achieving this grade in six consecutive Leapfrog reports is a testament to the hard work, diligence and dedication you provide to our patients every single day,” said Maureen Tarrant, President and CEO at P/SL and RMHC. “By improving checks and balances and ensuring strong lines of communication, we are able to keep patients safe, reduce infection rates and achieve high quality outcomes. It is truly a collaborative effort and we appreciate everyone’s contributions to achieve this high honor once again.”
We would also like to extend sincere congratulations to our sister HealthONE hospitals for earning excellent grades. The entire HealthONE system of hospitals, six in total, were among the 750 awarded an “A” for their commitment to keeping patients safe and meeting the highest safety standards in the U.S. As part of the HealthONE system, The Medical Center of Aurora, North Suburban Medical Center, Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, Rose Medical Center, Sky Ridge Medical Center, and Swedish Medical Center work together to provide a higher level of care.
“We are enormously proud of this significant accomplishment,” said Sylvia Young, President and CEO of HealthONE. “This represents collaborative work by our entire system and the true culmination of our mission, which is that above all else, we are committed to the care and improvement of human life. Leapfrog’s acknowledgement of our attention to the care we provide every patient, every day is a testament to the thousands of employees and physicians who put our patients first.”
