What is Robotic Surgery?
Considered to be the most innovative type of minimally invasive surgery available today, robotic surgery combines the human touch of skilled surgeons with the precision of leading-edge technologies. At P/SL, we are proud to offer the latest in robotic surgery options. Despite its name, robotic surgery is performed by highly experienced, specially trained surgeons who are assisted by an integrated system of advanced computer and robotic technologies.
How robotic surgery works:
Your surgeon is 100% in control of the robot. Through a high-tech control module, surgeons move miniaturized operating instruments that allow for extremely precise movements. In fact, robotic surgeons have a greater range of motion, they can see more clearly and they have better dexterity when using the robotic system.
Though robotic surgery has been used successfully worldwide in hundreds of thousands of procedures to date, not all patients are candidates for robotic-assisted surgery. Colorectal procedures can be performed by open surgery, minimally invasive surgery or robotic surgery. Be sure to discuss the benefits and risks of each surgical technique with your doctor.
We are home to one of the largest robotic surgery programs in the Rocky Mountain Region.
Our highly-skilled and board-certified surgeons perform robotic surgery in the following specialties:
- Robotic Bariatric/Weight Loss Surgery
- Robotic Colorectal Surgery
- Robotic ENT Surgery
- Robotic Gallbladder Surgery
- Robotic General Surgery
- Robotic Hernia Repair Surgery
- Robotic Hysterectomy
- Robotic Nephrectomy
- Robotic Prostatectomy
- Robotic Sacrocolpopexy for Pelvic Prolapse
- Robotic Single-site Surgery
Before you decide on surgery, discuss treatment options with your doctor. Understanding the benefits and risks of each procedure can help you make the best decision for your individual situation.
