Compassionate patient care in Denver
At Presbyterian/St. Luke’s Medical Center, we take pride in ensuring our patients receive exceptional care in a comfortable environment. Our specialists provide a comprehensive approach to treating conditions and illnesses when a cure is not possible. We focus on all of the needs of the patient, whether it is psychological, spiritual or physical.
Our goal with our hospice care is to relieve the patient from any suffering or controlling pain. We aim to help the patient achieve and keep their independence for as long as possible. We strive to incorporate their beliefs, culture and values into their care.
Who can receive hospice care?
Our hospice care is not limited to patients who have cancer. Patients with conditions such as dementia, lung disease and heart disease are also eligible to receive hospice care.
How does hospice care begin?
A referral will need to be made by the patient’s physician before hospice begins. A representative will visit the patient, family members and/or caregiver to do an evaluation. Hospice care typically starts within 48 hours after the visit. In some instances, hospice service can begin sooner, depending on if the patient or family is facing an urgent situation.
