Born with Polycystic Kidney Disease, Bob Ellis knew that one day he would have to undergo a kidney transplant. The past two years, Bob’s family and friends noticed his health was rapidly declining. He was losing color, napping more and slowing down — he desperately needed a kidney. His brother urged him to start a living donor campaign that included events and a social media push. Despite the fact that many were interested in helping, it was Bob’s neighbor and good friend Lanna Hummermeier that came through in the end. It’s been a year since the successful operation at Presbyterian/St. Luke’s and both Bob and Lanna and doing amazing. Bob’s color has returned and he is feeling better than he has in years.
